Casa Escondida

Casa Escondida is located in a quiet side street in Grandola, 150m from the park. A gate leads to the courtyard and after 30m you arrive at the concealed front door, hence Casa Escondida or “hidden house”! The town of Grandola itself has long history and it boasts gracious buildings and friendly people. Here people do not live off tourism but support each other, and tourists are an added bonus. Within a radius of 100 metres, you’ll find the fishmonger, the butcher, the greengrocer and all the best restaurants in town where, for €15 per person, you can wash down a delicious meal with a very nice little wine. The Mediterranean climate means that from March onwards, spring is in the air and from April to the beginning of November, daytime temperatures between 25°C and 28°C are the norm. 330 mm of precipitation and 250 days of sunshine a year guarantee “terrace weather” almost all year round.

This ground floor flat with 2 bedrooms (80 sq.m) and a small courtyard was completely renovated in 2020. It’s the ideal base for discovering the real Alentejo. With the famous beaches of Santo André, Comporta, Melides and Carvalhal within a radius of 20 km, visitors can immerse themselves Alentejan beach culture. An hour on the beach, grilled sardines or other seafood in one of the beach restaurants, lots of space, few tourists and a crystal-clear ocean with waves that all surfers dreams of!
The town of Sines, with its famous Vasco de Gamma beach and its picturesque fishing port with its fish restaurants is 50 km away. A little further away, you will find Porto Covo and Milfontes, towns with rocky beaches where freshly caught crabs are on the table for lunch!
The motorway takes you to the centre of Lisbon within an hour, but an hour’s drive through the typical Alentejan countryside (storks and rice plantations, reservoirs, cork oaks and olive trees) takes you to the ancient royal city of Evora or to the beautiful Montemor-o-Novo.
